Description

Prospective music majors and their parents are invited to spend the day with us to learn more about the Department of Music at DMC. Space is limited, so please register today!


What to Expect

  • Insight into life as a music major from faculty and current students

  • Tour our state-of-the-art music facilities

  • Info sessions on admissions, financial aid, and scholarships

  • Lunch included with DMC music students

  • Q&A with faculty to get your questions answered

  • Optional: Schedule a FREE private lesson with a DMC music faculty member

Open to all high school students and their parents or guardians no matter your instrument or experience level. 


🎓 February 16, 2026 is also a Scholarship Audition Day! High school seniors planning to start college in Fall 2026 can take advantage of the opportunity to audition for scholarships while on campus. Details and scheduling are available on our scholarship page, click here.

Who can attend Music Major Day?

Any high school student interested in studying music at Del Mar College is welcome, along with parents/guardians.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just bring yourself, your questions, and maybe a notebook. If you plan to take a free lesson with a DMC faculty member, bring your instrument (except for piano and percussion, which we provide).

How much does it cost to attend?

It’s completely free! Lunch is included for all registered participants.

Can I register for both dates?

Yes, but most students pick the one that best fits their schedule. February 16, 2026 is recommended for seniors, since it’s also a scholarship audition day.

What if I’m not sure I want to major in music?

That’s okay! Music Major Day is a great chance to explore what it’s like to be a music student and decide if it’s right for you.
