Welding Tour — See the Sparks Fly @ Viking Fest
Description
Step inside Del Mar College’s Welding Applied Technology labs for a special Welding Tour during Viking Fest on November 15th. This isn’t just about watching it’s your backstage pass to what a welding career really looks like.
Walk through the Welding Applied Technology program, where students put theory into practice with real metal: plate, pipe, multiple positions (flat, vertical, overhead), and various welding processes. Del Mar’s curriculum covers everything from fundamentals to industry certificates.
Witness hundreds of competitors in action in the Día de los Muertos Welding Competition, testing speed, precision, craftsmanship, and grit in front of judges and community.
Meet instructors and current students. Get a close look at the tools, safety equipment, standards, and welding positions used in labs day in and day out.
Learn about certification opportunities and how this program can lead to well‑paying, in‑demand careers. Del Mar offers certificates from “Industry Welding,” “Intermediate Welding,” and “Advanced Welding Level II,” up to the Associate of Applied Science in Welding.
Plus, if you’re ready to take the next step, there will be an opportunity to register on‑site for Spring 2026 enrollment.
If you’re curious, hands‑on, or just want to see what sparks passion this tour puts you right in the heart of it.
